HEALTH HERO NETWORK ANNOUNCES COMMERCIAL VERSION OF CARE COMPOSER SOFTWARE
Used to Create & Modify Health Dialogues™ for Remote Health Monitoring

Mountain View, CA - December 18, 2003 – Health Hero Network, Inc., the developer of award-winning technology solutions for remote health monitoring, has announced the release of the Care Composer™ software package, giving Health Hero Network customers and partners the ability to create and modify Health Dialogues™ for a variety of disease states and health topics. Health Dialogues, delivered via a Health Buddy® patient interface, are sets of questions and responses based on clinical guidelines and developed to help patients better manage their own care.

Care Composer software is designed to enable Health Hero Network partners and clinical specialists to create a wide variety of questions and follow-up responses to monitor subjective and objective patient data, provide instruction and education regarding patients’ health conditions, and reinforce self-management behaviors. Question types used to build Health Dialogues include multiple choice, numeric, range (such as Likert scale), prompt, medical device, yes/no and true/false. Medical device questions are used with the Buddylink™ connectivity feature to initiate the reading of a home medical device such as a blood glucose meter, blood pressure cuff, or weight scale. XML-based Health Dialogues created with Care Composer software incorporate dynamic branching, allowing clinicians to obtain timely clinical information on the patient and provide follow-up feedback and education based on individual responses to questions.

By alerting care providers to potential problems before a crisis, Health Dialogues enable early intervention and reduce costly hospital admissions. Patient responses to Health Dialogues are displayed for care provider review in the iCare Desktop™ application. Health Dialogues created with Care Composer software include standardized outcomes measures, and each potential response is assigned a risk level for simplified patient monitoring. An automated scheduling wizard assists clinicians with determining how often each Health Dialogue will be delivered to patients: daily, weekly, quarterly, or at the beginning or end of an intervention.

Care Composer software, available to Health Hero Network customers and partners, runs on Unix and Windows-based PCs as well as Mac OS X.

Use of blood pressure cuffs with Buddylink connectivity is pending FDA approval.
