35TH PATENT AWARDED TO HEALTH HERO NETWORK, INC. DEFINES TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM FOR PATIENT COMMUNICATION VIA TELEVISION
Mountain View, CA - November 8, 2000 - Health Hero Network, Inc., announced today it was just awarded a patent on the connection of medical devices to television sets and providing interactive feedback to patients. Health Hero provides a technology platform and application services that enable healthcare providers to communicate with patients at home and monitor health status.
The patent, 6,144,837, which issued on November 7, 2000, is entitled “Method and apparatus for interactively monitoring a physiological condition and for interactively providing health-related information.” The patent is a continuation of patent number 5,601,435 filed on Nov. 4, 1994 and also assigned to Health Hero Network, Inc.
“We focused on developing technologies that work for people who need care the most, including elderly patients with chronic illness, and the people who care for them” said Steve Brown, CEO of Health Hero. “This patent will facilitate our expansion into the interactive television market through strategic alliances and licensing arrangements with television manufacturers, interactive television network operators, and medical device companies.”

Patients currently receive messages and send information to care managers using the Health Buddy® communication appliance.
