HEALTH HERO NETWORK LAUNCHES HEALTH BUDDY® WEB, EXPANDING HEALTH BUDDY® PRODUCT LINE
New Patient Interface for Health Monitoring Gives Patients and Providers Convenient Method to Report and Review Health Data Over Secure Internet Connection
Mountain View, CA – October 24, 2002 – Health Hero Network, Inc., the developer of award-winning technology solutions for health monitoring, has announced the release of Health Buddy® Web, an Internet-enabled health monitoring system allowing patients to securely receive, respond to, and review answers to questions and education from their healthcare providers. The new interface is based on content developed for Health Hero Network’s Health Buddy® appliance and utilizes the same technology platform for secure data communications. Additional, disease-specific content from A.D.A.M., Inc. (NASDQ, ADAM) is included, giving patients in-depth information and illustrations for each of the fourteen standard disease management programs offered, including diabetes, asthma, hypertension, depression, and heart failure. Health Buddy Web, based on a product proven to reduce healthcare costs and increase quality of care, is available now from Health Hero Network.
The Health Buddy Web user interface was designed to be a simple, personal health communication tool for web-savvy individuals. Patients can sign on to a secure website and respond to a series of questions about vital signs, symptoms and behaviors. Health Buddy Web will respond to patients’ answers with education, messages that prompt patient action, and reinforcement, promoting improved self-management and positive behavioral change. The survey process takes only a few minutes and can be completed at any time. Immediately after the survey is answered, Health Buddy Web makes the information available for viewing by the patient’s healthcare provider(s).
Authorized health professionals can access patients’ information via the Health Hero® iCare Desktop™, an Internet-enabled communications tool used by medical professionals to remotely monitor and manage chronically ill patients while maintaining high quality of care. Patient data from both the Health Buddy appliance and Health Buddy Web is available for care provider review through the iCare Desktop, allowing care providers to choose the appropriate technology for each patient. The communications link created by the Health Hero technology platform allows patients and health providers to stay in touch every day.
“Health Buddy Web keeps patients with chronic illness and their caregivers in closer touch by enabling daily contact and continuity of care,” said Steve Brown, Health Hero Network CEO and President. “The new interface extends the Health Buddy product line and continues our tradition of bringing innovative, personalized solutions for health monitoring to market while promoting organizational efficiency.”
Health Buddy Web allows patients to review their own survey results and trend their symptom data while receiving daily structured communication and automated education from their health care providers. The program encourages patients to learn self-management skills, and appropriate health behaviors are reinforced. Award-winning, interactive illustrations and text hyperlinks from A.D.A.M., Inc. are included as additional information for each disease condition and can enhance patients’ understanding of their condition and ultimately help them better manage their health. A.D.A.M. serves healthcare organizations, medical professionals, consumers and students as a leading publisher of visually engaging health and medical information products.
