Health Hero Network and Yamatake Sign Licensing Agreement

Mountain View, CA – June 7, 2004 – Health Hero Network, Inc., the developer of award-winning technology solutions for remote health monitoring, today announced that Yamatake Corporation will use the Health Buddy® system to design and build a patient monitoring system for use in Japan.

The Health Buddy system serves as the interface between patients at home and care providers, facilitating patient education and monitoring of chronic conditions. The system includes monitoring technologies, clinical information databases, Internet-enabled decision support tools, health management programs and content development tools. Japanese patients will respond to questions customized for multiple specific health conditions including senior wellness, diabetes, and heart failure. In addition to educational reinforcement and behavior modification, the Yamatake system will allow health care providers to collect and monitor patients’ vital measurements using various home medical devices.

Yamatake, with nearly a century of industry-leading experience in Japan’s automation industry, will also create Japanese health management programs-sets of questions and answers based on standard practice guidelines which include educational reinforcement and reminders to help patients better manage their own care-to prevent the worsening of chronic disease. To create the Japanese programs, Yamatake will use the Health Hero Network Care Composer™ software, a robust content development tool that enables health management program development with dynamic branching logic, flexible question taxonomy and the ability to collect variable patient responses. Yamatake will provide strategic planning, implementation, and training services to its health care clients.

“By using the Health Hero technology platform to design a specific disease management system for Japan, we have the opportunity to improve Japanese health care and extend our solutions to improve the quality of life in Japan,” commented Yoshinori Shiote, Director Health Care Business Development Dept. of Yamatake. “This agreement will result in a flexible, customizable option for disease management in Japan.”

Earlier this month, Health Hero Network partnered with Sananet for its first international program in the Netherlands, focused on providing disease management for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients.

“We are pleased to work with Yamatake to bring a chronic care solution based on the Health Buddy system to Japan,” noted Geoffrey Clapp, Health Hero Network CTO/COO. “Health Hero Network’s relationship with Yamatake reflects our commitment to extending our technology solutions for health monitoring to the global market.”
