HEALTH HERO NETWORK LAUNCHES SERVICE IN THE NETHERLANDS
Sananet B.V. Begins Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Pilot in Utrecht and Nieuwegein

Mountain View, CA and Heerlen, Netherlands - June 1, 2004 – Health Hero Network, Inc. reports that patients in the Netherlands are now using the Health Buddy® system as part of a Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) pilot program. Patients in the program were selected from hospitals in Utrecht (Mesos Medisch Centrum) and Nieuwegein (St. Antonius Ziekenhuis). The pilot is the result of a joint effort between Sananet B.V., Epping Consultancy, Stichting Rhijnhuysen, Nederlands Astma Fonds, and Health Hero Network. The Netherlands was selected as the site for Health Hero Network’s first international pilot based on its progressive medical system, which is receptive to technological advances in healthcare.

Sananet will install a Health Buddy appliance in each enrolled patient’s home. The Health Buddy appliance will ask the patient a daily series of questions about their health, to which patients may respond at their convenience. Questions and responses options are delivered to patients in Dutch.

The Health Buddy system serves as the interface for care providers and at-home patients, facilitating education monitoring of chronic conditions while collecting timely information for healthcare providers. Encrypted patient data is transmitted to a secure data center and accessed over the Internet by healthcare providers in the Netherlands. All patient responses are risk-stratified for presentation to care providers, helping to ensure efficient management of daily patient communication. The Health Buddy system guides patients in self-care while gathering information ranging from self-assessment to symptoms and vital signs.

Sananet is a Consultancy office and Value Added Reseller in the domain of e-Health, and offers consultancy, training and support to enable professionals and patients to use sophisticated information and communication technology for e-Health.

“With this pilot, we will demonstrate how e-Health technologies result in better care for Dutch patients,” said Jan Ramaekers, CEO, Sananet. “The combination of Sananet’s professional service offerings with the Health Hero Network product line is the perfect match for what is needed for e-Health solutions support in the Netherlands.”

“The simplicity and flexibility of the Health Buddy system make it the ideal solution for chronic care improvement in the Netherlands and throughout Europe,” noted Paul Epping, Director, Epping Consultancy.
