HEALTH HERO NETWORK ENHANCES HEALTH BUDDY APPLIANCE SOFTWARE
Supports Multiple Configurations, Medical Devices and Languages
Mountain View, CA - May 25, 2004 – Health Hero Network, Inc. has released a Health Buddy® appliance software upgrade, increasing the flexibility of the Health Buddy system. The Health Buddy appliance software update features support for multiple languages including English, Spanish, and Dutch. The recent enhancements are applicable to both the Health Buddy appliance and the American Medical Alert Corp. PERS Buddy® appliance, and incorporate support for a wider range of medical device connectivity.
The Health Buddy system features a “virtual machine” platform, using a single software package to support multiple configurations of the Health Buddy appliance. Medical devices, including a blood pressure monitor, weight scales, and several glucose meters, can be connected to the Health Buddy appliance with readings integrated seamlessly into a patient’s question and answer session and made available to care providers through the iCare Desktop™ application.
The patient’s in-home Health Buddy appliance or AMAC PERS Buddy appliance can be updated remotely to enable use of a number of medical devices, or additional language options, without an installer or care provider having to make a visit to the patient’s home. Care providers use Care Composer™ software to modify health management programs remotely to tailor content to a patient’s specific requirements.
The Health Buddy appliance software update is available for download free of charge to all Health Hero Network customers upon request. Health Buddy appliances will be automatically updated over a phone line as part of a regular data transmission. All Health Hero Network products feature seamless update installations that do not require participation of the patient or provider. As patients move along the continuum of care, their Health Buddy appliance software can be updated remotely updated to meet changing needs.
“Health Hero Network continues its innovation in remote monitoring for chronic care with this release, providing one software package supporting many solutions,” noted Geoffrey Clapp, Health Hero Network CTO/COO. “We are committed to offering our partners and customers in government, homecare, and other markets unmatched flexibility with the Health Buddy system to adapt to each unique population’s needs.”
