LIVER RESEARCH INSTITUTE TO DELIVER ADHEREPLAN™ HEPATITIS C CONTENT VIA HEALTH HERO NETWORK TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM
Combination of LRI’s Clinical Expertise and Health Hero’s Technology Utilizes Health Hero Platform to Deliver Treatment Program

Mountain View, Calif. - May 13, 2003 - Health Hero Network, Inc., the developer of award-winning technology solutions for health monitoring, today announced that the Liver Research Institute (LRI) has joined Health Hero® as a solution partner. LRI and Health Hero will develop and resell partnered content with a concentration on Hepatitis C, other liver diseases, and HIV. The content will be delivered via the Health Hero platform.

Hepatitis C constitutes a worldwide epidemic, affecting nearly 4 million people in the United States alone. Improved treatment strategies are rapidly evolving and the success rate (measured as sustained viral response) is approaching 60%. The treatment, however, is arduous, and many patients are unable to complete the $30,000-40,000 course of therapy.

LRI’s AdherePlan™ content will be used with the Health Hero technology platform to collect, analyze, and report data such as side effects, quality of life, and medication compliance to care providers. The combined program, available from both LRI and Health Hero, provides a support and management system to increase treatment adherence and success while controlling the costs of Hepatitis C therapy.

“Health Hero is pleased to partner with LRI and leverage our success in health monitoring technology to benefit Hepatitis C-positive patients,” said Geoffrey Clapp, CTO/COO, Health Hero Network.

“By delivering our AdherePlan content over the Health Hero platform, we can dramatically improve patients’ quality of life,” noted Kevin Kearney, President of LRI. “The educational interactions, reminders, and incentives provided to the patient through the combination of products will give patients a substantial support system and provide caregivers with vital feedback to direct appropriate intervention.”
