Health Hero Network Continues to Expand Medical Device Support with Pulse Oximetry
Redwood City, CA - May 8, 2006 — Health Hero Network, Inc. announced it has gained 510k market clearance by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for pulse oximetry connectivity to its Health Buddy® system. The addition of pulse oximetry support expands the benefits that the Health Buddy system provides to patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder and asthma.
The Health Buddy system provides patients with education, reminders and coaching, empowering them to better manage their chronic condition. Patients interact with the Health Buddy appliance, a small countertop appliance and answer daily questions concerning their condition. Pulse oximetry device connectivity will allow patients to upload their pulse rate and Sp02 (arterial oxygen saturation) readings. This information will then be transmitted to a secure website, where care providers will be able to access the data and easily see if a symptom is deteriorating, check patient behaviors and examine trends in a patient’s health.
“The addition of in-home pulse oximetry measurement capability expands Health Hero Network’s capability to support home monitoring with medical devices across a wide spectrum of disease states,” said Julie Cherry, Health Hero Network’s Medical Director.
Additional device categories supported by the Health Buddy system are blood glucose, blood pressure, weight and peak flow
