HEALTH HERO NETWORK ANNOUNCES NEW VERSION OF iCARE DESKTOP APPLICATION FOR REMOTE PATIENT MONITORING

New Features Support Medical Device Connectivity and Improve Patient Enrollment Process

Mountain View, CA - April 27, 2004 – Health Hero Network, Inc. has released a major update to the Health Hero® iCare Desktop™ application. The iCare Desktop application now supports medical device connectivity with the Health Buddy® appliance; the range of available devices includes blood glucose meters, weight scales, and a blood pressure monitor. When enrolling a new patient, providers are able to select from several monitoring technologies including the Health Buddy appliance, Health Buddy® Web, and the American Medical Alert Corp. PERS Buddy® appliance. Additionally, new user-defined trend chart and task list preferences lend greater daily flexibility and control for healthcare providers managing large chronically ill populations.

The iCare Desktop application provides secure access to features and reports designed to risk-stratify patient populations, enabling health professionals to monitor clinical outcomes and quality of life while managing the total cost of care. Care providers assign standard or custom disease management content to monitor and assess their patients’ clinical conditions. Patient response data is sent to a secure data center where it is then available for review over the Internet through the iCare Desktop application.

Care providers now have enhanced flexibility in defining personal iCare Desktop application preferences. Multiple options for trend chart and task list management as well as user-defined appearance attributes have been added, allowing users to further customize their daily workflow.

“Health Hero Network is committed to evolving the robust tools included in the iCare Desktop application to meet the needs of our customers,” noted Geoffrey Clapp, CTO/COO of Health Hero Network. “The latest enhancements allow care providers to partner the Health Buddy appliance with medical devices if appropriate, and give them additional freedom of choice and control in managing multiple chronic illness programs.”
