At Health Hero Network, Steve Brown led the development and commercialization of Health Buddy, a communication system that makes it easier for patients to record and share vital health status information with caregivers. Leading health care organizations including the Veterans Administration, Medicare, and McKesson have chosen Health Buddy as a platform for remote patient monitoring and chronic care improvement. Steve Brown earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from Stanford University. In his honors thesis on modeling climate change, he created educational simulations to teach people about the impact of lifestyle and behavior on global warming. He then went on to conduct research funded by a series of grants from the National Institutes of Health on using interactive media to change health behavior. Based on this research, he started and led a business that developed multi-player role-playing video games designed to improve health behavior in children.
Steve Brown has given many presentations at international conferences on transforming chronic care and on the potential for the Internet and interactive media to positively change behavior. He has played a leadership role in industry organizations such as the Information Technology Association of America and the eHealth Initiative to help change government policies and open markets for chronic care improvement and remote health services.
