News Release: Agile Sports’ HUDL Changes the Way Athletes Study the Game. Watch the Video at http://HUDL.com
Lincoln, Neb. – After piloting its Hudl coaching system with over 150 coaches and hundreds of athletes in Nebraska, Kansas, and Texas, Agile Sports is officially launching the video editing and analysis software nationwide this Sunday at the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Convention in Nashville, Tenn.
Hudl was developed by taking Agile Sports’ Hudl Pro software, which is used by the University of Nebraska Husker football team and the New York Jets, and transforming it into a lighter-weight, web-based system that is made to work with every sport and fit in the budget of even small high schools.
“As the level of competition continues to intensify in high school sports, it has become increasingly important to put powerful tools in the hands of your coaches and athletes,” said John Wirtz, Agile Sports’ Chief Operating Officer.
“Coaches recognize that video is one of the most impactful ways to improve their athletes’ performance and study their opponents – they just haven’t had the means to get the right video to their team quickly and in a format that really engages players, until now.”
Coach Randy Dreiling and his Hutchinson (Kan.) High School Salthawks put Hudl to the test this season as they took aim at their fifth-straight Kansas state football championship. Coach Dreiling and his staff found Hudl to be a valuable ingredient to add to the winning mix as they again took home the title in 2008.
“The ability for our kids to access the video from home at night, right after practice, was essential,” Dreiling said.
Hudl not only gives coaches secure access to their video from anywhere at any time, it also provides the same tools used by the New York Jets and quarterback Brett Favre, including the ability to draw and speak on top of video, instantly share it with specific players and coaches, and quickly exchange video with opponents.
“Hudl is really quick, really easy to access, and really easy to use,” Favre said. “Things that you could only do here at the facility you can do just as quickly from home. If it’s 10 p.m. or if you’re on the road, you can still watch your film just like you’re in the building.”
The Division II University of Nebraska-Kearney Lopers were another team that added Hudl to their arsenal for the 2008 season. Grant Mollring, wide receivers coach and video coordinator for the Lopers, found that his players very quickly latched onto Hudl.
“With Hudl, our players wanted to watch more film,” Mollring said. “Both our players and coaches loved being able to watch video from their homes and generate reports and breakdowns with point-and-click ease.”
